Explore Alexandria’s History with Family Day and Specialty Tours at Gadsby's Tavern Museum

Discover Alexandria’s rich heritage this summer at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, 134 N. Royal Street, during Family Day with Young Historians—every Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. through Labor Day. Join us on Sunday, June 29 for a special afternoon of discovery and learning! Included with regular museum admission, this interactive program features Junior Docents stationed throughout the historic tavern buildings, offering engaging tours and hands-on activities such as chocolate making and period clothing demonstrations.
Also, don’t miss the Specialty Tour: Hamilton’s BFF & Frenemies, held every Saturday in July (July 5, 12, 19, and 26) from 10 to 11 a.m. Inspired by the hit musical Hamilton, this guided tour explores how influential figures such as Washington, Lafayette, Jefferson, Madison, and Burr intersected at Gadsby’s Tavern and shaped the lives of Alexandria’s early citizens. Tickets are $15 per person and $12 for Historic Alexandria Members. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged, as these popular tours often sell out. Reserve your tickets at: https://shop.alexandriava.gov/Events.aspx.
